How many times have you heard someone say “I had a really weird dream last night,” and then proceed to tell you a few things about it?  Most times we laugh about how strange the scenes appear in our dreams and never take the time to wonder if they are, in fact, telling us anything about ourselves.

Yet, should we really be so quick to dismiss a part of our lives which seems to be an integral aspect of our psychological and physical health?  Shall we cast off the images in our dreams before we give them a chance to ‘speak’ to us in their own language?  Is it possible that our dreams are the portals to the spiritual realm?  Do they predict the future?  Do they alert us to possible bodily illnesses?  Do they help us solve problems?  What did the Ancients believe about dreams?  What is said about them today? We will address these and many other topics, so  come and explore with us the mysterious realm of dreams.

Anthony L. Palermo, M.A. and James Dailey, M.A. are Associate Professors of Humanities at Lakeland Community College.  Dream Quest is a three credit course offered at Lakeland.
